Diamanti; £10 million bid lodged tonight!

A friend of mine that's a sports journalist in London has just text me saying West Ham have received a bid in excess of £10 million for Diamanti. Apparently Sullivan/Gold's are willing to sell and apparently he just needs to agree personal terms now. Big Eck has apparently had enough of playing cat and mouse with Celtic and Liverpool over the winger scenario and see's the Italian as a sensible signing. Very good signing in my eyes.

He's a good player but I can't see us bidding £10 million for him...

We'd better start winning some more penalties if he's going to score goals for us too...

Well he's usually a very reliable source, he gave me the low down on Forsell and Upson before they arrived so hopefully hes right. In the current market £10 mill for someone AMC rates so highly is cheap, Big Eck isn't going to get McGeady/Babel for less than this apparently is the word down South!

Chrissy, thanks for posting the rumour, are you genuine or a WUM? I am with the others, just can't see any credence in this: 1) he isn't worth near £10million 2) he can only score penalties 3) he would be amongst their supposed "top" players and therefore wouldn't be available for sale 4) he doesn't appear to be a winger nor a striker and Eck wants one of each.

I am prepared to be proven wrong and will happily come back on here to post/eat humble pie.

At least however it will provide debate and give the illusion that we are actually in the market for players still and not just shying away from paying anyone, anything...

Stats are fine Ken Bluenose19! and he looks a really good Striking-Midfielder on the vid and at first it was hard to take this rumour seriously, for like Kent Bluenose19 I asked myself if he's worth this marquee transfer fee why do the 2 Davids want to sell him when Sully told the press that the WHU team are thin particularly in the area of strikers...?

Then again! we all know how tight Sully and Gold are in any balance of books and transfer policy and given the tremendous debt they have inherited we may expect them to sell assets to buy assets and they have stated publicly that the will operate in this transfer window (the urgency of one week). Maybe once they decided to dispose of one key asset to buy a couple of players, they couldn't mess about and the urgency of this windows close may have prompted Sully to ring his contacts at his old stomping ground and close the deal over the phone all bar the personal terms!

He could then ring round to buy before the window gets shut in his face! :LMAO:

In this and other vids on Youtube, he seems to have been a target in the pitch battlefields that the Italians enjoy so much and he seems to play through it and is not averse to having a go himself, the dagos love him for it! so we won't have to worry about his commitment or courage to take on the game!

As I write this post the scenario looks highly probable by the line, and putting any tendancies for paranoia aside, if we review the links below in a positive frame of mind the Alessandro aquisition looks a great propect even (and remember who's posting this), at the expense of Ryan Babel!

Hope your friend is wrong on this one.
1. He's not worth 10million.
2. He's not the type of player blues need.
3. ...

Cant see this happening IMO.

1. Sullivan wont want to sell a fan favourite days into their reign there... only "big" player I can see leaving them is Upson as they dont get on.

2. He isnt worth £10m... and we still have the cheaper offer on the table for Babel, and it'll take £10m-£11m for McGeady... so cant see Eck simply paying £10m for Diamanti.

Just had another thought about Diamanti...

This may be no more than a rumour from the smoke about Sully's hope and intent! :redcard: :LMAO:

Interesting to note that you don't actually say Blues are the club in for him, just that Eck likes him, which is completely different.

West Ham paid £6million for him in the summer so why would his value almost double in 6 months?

I would love him at Blues ... Takes a mean set-piece, hes passionate so he would definately fight to help the team attack and defend ... And this guys left foot in terms of shooting and putting a killer ball through are absolutely out-standing!

No no no no no no no

sorry but why should we put £10 million or 10pence into their coffers when their owners have trousered enough cash from this club.

he is unpredictable and hot tempered.and drives his team mates mad because he isnt a team player...yes he is exactly the type of player Mcleish would be looking at :banghead:

I've written on here before that I'm an admirer of Diamanti, but have to agree that he's not what we need right now, which is a Cameron Jerome+ type player. And he's not worth £10m. Yet.

How do you know he drives the players mad? The few Hammers fans I know absolutely love him, and I always assumed the players love him...

I dont want the club to miss out on talented players just cause of qualms with their owners. Ok maybe 10 million is abit high, but if we can put money in Oneills transfer kitty from buying Gardner, then surely we can put money into anyones club?

Lukey i have watched a fair few sky games and seen how players react to his wild shooting from 30/40 yards...players body language is usually a pretty good indicator.he is a maverick a little bit di canio but nowhere near as good or as clever.Just my opinion and i respect yours but definitely not a team player and i could see sparks flying with Bow and Fergie leading the way

*also rates Diamanti*

he made me cr@p myself during the West Ham, especially when he ripped his shirt in 2, Hulk Hogan style!

Football Manager should give him 21 out of 20 for creativity

I love Diamanti, if he came here he'd be amazing! £10 mill is a snip and if you dont agree you don't know talent when it slaps you in the face.

Yeah, we want a random player picked out from Walsall who you base a whole argument on signing him with a wikipedia link.

I don't see what was wrong with him ripping his shirt, it was frustration because he didn't score... It shows he cares if anything...
